When traveling for more than a week, you’re going to have to do some laundry. There are some things that you can wash in a sink as they are light and easy to dry. So I bring these inflatable hangers that are so useful and practical. Things dry so fast when using them. I never leave home without them. I also carry a small bottle or packets of laundry soap like Tide. You can find them at stores like Target or KMART. In the photo below, you will see a sink stopper and a Clothesline. I have brought them on my trips before but didn’t really find them useful, so I stopped bringing them. I use the inflatable hangers on every trip.
While staying in hotels you can hang your items in the shower/bathtub area to dry. Or you can find a local laundry mat nearby to do some washing/drying. I did that a few times, Lyon, France, Siena and Vernazza Italy. These days I’ve been staying in Apartment/Vacation rentals where there is at least a washing machine (very rare have I seen dryers available). In any case, I will wash my clothes and hang them on the provided clothesline (if one is provided).
Here is a photo in Vernazza, where you see several clotheslines filled with various laundry items drying.
And to get into the spirit of doing as the locals do . . . here is our laundry hanging outside of our apartment. 😀
Since our apartment was along the main street leading to the water, my fear was accidentally dropping our clothes and it landing on someone’s head down below. But as luck would have it, we were very careful and no one had the unexpected surprise of wearing my socks or my friend’s bra as a hat.
